Do you want to cosplay an existing character, or show off your design for a character you already created? This article will help you figure out where and how to start cosplaying your character.
How to Make Your Own Cosplay
Figure out what your costume is going to look like. Keep these criteria in mind: Are your costume materials easy to find? Can your costume be put on and taken off easily? Is the costume appropriate for the season? Is your costume comfortable?
Go to a nearby fabric store and buy the fabric you need for your cosplay. For example, if your character has a fuzzy brown shirt, feel some of the different fabrics until you find something you like. Keep the price in mind too-- don't go over your budget! Be sure when you buy the fabric, that you have enough to make something that will fit you. Have updated measurements on hand so you know how much fabric you need to get. Remember to take your measurements a few days before you start making the costume for the most accurate costume measurements.
Go to the thrift store. You can find a lot of cheap clothes there, and you can cut and sew them as much as you want to without having to spend too much money.
Style your hair like the character you are cosplaying. If your character's hair color isn't the same as yours, you can buy a wig and style that instead.
Before you begin to put your outfit together ,sketch it out. Make sure you have enough fabric, and that all of your measurements are accurate.
Wear your cosplay proudly!
